The original plan was to create leaflets for the visibility of the project. We noticed that leaflets are not very sustainable, people throw them away after a conference. Instead we participated heavily in the Open Education Week. Open Education Week is a series of events to increase awareness of open education movement. Our partner OCW Consortium is organizing the week.
Open Education Week 2012
In the first Open Education Week TU Delft organized an event together with SURF and Open University Netherlands. Almost 100 people attended the event in Delft and about the same number followed the conference online. All the recordings, report and photos of the event are available on our website: http://opencourseware.eu/OpenEducationEvent2012.
Creative Commons launched a video competition to highlight potential of free educational materials on http://whyopenedmatters.org/. The competition will award cash prizes for the best short videos that explain the use and promise of free, high-quality Open Educational Resources—or “OER”—and describe the benefits and opportunities these materials create for teachers, students and schools. The winners were announced in July 2012: http://creativecommons.org/weblog/entry/33343.

Webinar: OpenCourseWare in the European Higher Education Context: How to make use of its full potential for virtual mobility This webinar will introduce participants to an European Project: "OpenCourseWare in the European Higher Education Context: How to make use of its full potential for virtual mobility" The focus of the project is on the creation of preconditions for a strong European OCW-framework. A stronger framework will also mean closer cooperation between European institutes, which may result in mutual use of material and even joint degrees. A better functioning OCW-system will enhance quality and increase the usage of online courses and therefore facilitate virtual mobility. An objective in itself, but it may also result in a decline of obstacles to cooperation and therefore an increase in real student mobility. Webinar recording: http://youtu.be/YqdPjpEDwDY |
